Models, prompts and answers never touch a server. There is no account, no telemetry and no way to look in — because there is nothing to look at.
Introducing Hearth
Hearth is a small, quiet box that runs large AI models on your own hardware. Ask questions, automate your home, search your files — and nothing ever leaves the house.
Why Hearth
Your conversations, files and habits are the most personal data you own. Hearth keeps all of it where it belongs — in your home.
Models, prompts and answers never touch a server. There is no account, no telemetry and no way to look in — because there is nothing to look at.
The Ember H1 chip sustains 45 TOPS, so a 27-billion-parameter model answers in well under a second — no spinner, no queue, no cloud round-trip.
Wi-Fi 7, Thread and Matter built in. Talk to it from the kitchen, the office or the garden — it bridges to the devices you already own.
Internet goes, Hearth doesn't. Every model runs on the box itself, so the assistant, the summaries and the automations keep working through any outage.
A passive-friendly thermal design idles at 19 decibels — quieter than a library. You will notice it only when you want to.
Model updates download and verify on the box. Your data is never used for training, and you can pin any model version you like.
How it works
Power, Wi-Fi, done. The Hearth app finds the box and walks you through setup — no account required.
Lamps, locks, speakers and sensors join over Thread and Matter. They stay on your network, controlled locally.
Ask questions, run routines, search your own files. Every word is processed on the box and then forgotten.
Under the hood
No fans screaming, no blinking light show. Just a dense little computer that does one job exceptionally well.

Early testers
The internet went down for six hours last week. Hearth didn't notice. Neither did my family.
It summarized a month of meeting notes in ninety seconds, on my own network. I stopped being afraid of my smart home.
Six months in, the only thing I notice is the silence. It is the first gadget I forget is there.
Questions
No. Inference, memory and storage all live on the box. The only network traffic Hearth ever makes is for model updates, and those are signed, verified and optional — you can set the box to fully offline and everything keeps working.
Out of the box, Hearth ships with a tuned 27B model for conversation, a 7B model for fast tasks, and a vision model for photos. Any open model that fits in memory can be added from the app — the box handles quantization automatically.
Nothing, as far as you can tell. The assistant, file search, summaries and home automations all run locally. Cloud-only conveniences like web search pause until you reconnect — the box tells you plainly when that happens.
Hearth idles at 19 decibels, which is below the noise floor of most rooms, and draws 11 W at rest. Under sustained heavy load it rises to 24 dB and 45 W — you will feel a gentle warmth on the top, never a fan.
Through Matter and Thread, both built in. Lamps, thermostats, locks and sensors pair from the app and are controlled locally — so "lights off" still works at 2 a.m. with no cloud in the loop. Plain Wi-Fi devices work too.
The full price is the box. The companion app, the assistant, model updates and a two-year hardware warranty are all included, with no monthly fee. When a better model comes out, you download it — that is the whole business model.
Pre-orders open
The first 1,000 boxes ship in December, with a 60-day no-questions refund window. If Hearth is not quieter and faster than your cloud assistant, send it back.
