Every word you say or type is processed on the NPU inside the box, in your home, and then discarded. There is no cloud round-trip, no telemetry and no optional “improve our service” checkbox — because there is no service to improve. You can verify it yourself: unplug the Ethernet and turn off Wi-Fi. Hearth keeps working, exactly as before.
Out of the box, Hearth ships with a tuned 8B assistant for chat, writing and home automation, plus a 3B voice model for instant spoken replies. On the full Hearth and Studio, you can also run 14B and 32B models for deeper reasoning. Any open model that fits the memory can be sideloaded on Studio through the SDK.
No. Hearth is fully functional offline — that's the whole idea. Wi-Fi is only used if you want it to control other network devices or receive optional model updates, and it never phones home on its own. The update button is yours to press, whenever you choose.
19 dB at idle — about as quiet as a leaf falling, and quieter than most refrigerators. Under full model load it creeps to 24 dB, which you can only notice by standing right next to it with your ear close. It's designed to disappear into the room, not sit on top of it.
Yes. Hearth speaks Matter and Thread natively, so any certified device — bulbs, locks, plugs, sensors — pairs in seconds, whether it's from a brand you love or one you're trying. It can also drive existing routines from the major home platforms, without being the middleman for your data.
You press “check for updates” in the app and, if the new model fits your version, it downloads and installs locally — free, like any other software update. Your old model stays until you decide to replace it, and nothing about your setup changes: same box, same silence, same house.
